Etymology: Acrochordonichthys: Greek, akros = summit, topmost + Greek, chorda = nervous line + Greek, ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335);  strigosus: Named for its relatively slender body, strigosus, slender.

Dorsal spines (total): 1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 5; Vertebrae: 40. Dorsal to adipose distance 7.2% HL; snout length 39.2% HL. Body depth at anus 9.7% SL; and caudal peduncle depth 4.5% SL. Thick humeral process 18.4% SL. Rounded posterior margin of adipose fin. Male genital papilla short and thick. Branchiostegal rays 5 (Ref. 37794).
